Town Mayor welcomes Sedgemoor’s grant decision
North Petherton Town Council’s Mayor, Cllr Alan Bradford, has welcomed the decision of Sedgemoor District Council’s Executive to recommend a grant of £350,000 towards the Wilstock Hub project. The scheme will provide a range of indoor and outdoor facilities for the villages of Wilstock and Stockmoor and for the surrounding area.
Cllr Bradford said: “Wilstock Hub is a very important initiative that will bring much needed benefits to the people of Wilstock and Stockmoor. A great deal of progress has already been made by the dedicated team of volunteers that is leading the project, including acquiring the land, obtaining planning permission and completing the detailed designs. I am proud to say that the Town Council has been steadfast it its support of the project and has provided significant grants towards it. It has also committed to substantial further funding in the future. I am, therefore, particularly pleased and thankful that our District Council has recognised the value of the work already done on the Hub and the major benefits that it will bring to local people. This grant, together with contributions from the Town Council and the Hinkley Point Community Fund will mean that well over half of the finance target has been reached. This will be very significant in prompting other funders to support the scheme and ensure that all the hard work pays off for our community”
